Nurse Practitioner - Missoula, Bitterroot and Flathead Valley

Wound Care Nurse Practitioner (NP) assesses, diagnoses, and treats complex acute/chronic wounds (like diabetic, pressure, surgical ulcers) by creating individualized plans, performing advanced care (debridement, dressings, NPWT), prescribing meds, educating patients/families, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams in settings from hospitals to home health, focusing on healing, prevention, and improved quality of life.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Assessment: Conduct comprehensive physical exams, health histories, and wound evaluations (size, depth, tissue type).

  • Treatment Planning: Develop, implement, and adjust evidence-based care plans, including advanced therapies (e.g., negative pressure, allografts).

  • Procedures: Perform debridement (removing dead tissue), advanced dressing changes, and wound cleansing.

  • Medication & Diagnostics: Order and interpret tests, prescribe appropriate medications and treatments.

  • Patient/Family Education: Teach self-care, prevention, and lifestyle modifications to promote healing and prevent recurrence.

  • Collaboration: Work with physicians, PTs, home health, and other specialists for continuity of care.

  • Documentation: Meticulously chart progress, treatments, and outcomes for compliance and reimbursement.

  • Quality Improvement: Participate in initiatives, stay current on best practices, and may contribute to research.
